Communities of Excellence Awards

The Community of Excellence Awards recognizes exceptional multifamily property styles, of all sizes, and celebrates the best in property management, based on service to residents, to the community, and financial performance.

Finalists will be announced on October 20th!

  • ​New Large Construction Community of the Year (150+ Units, built within past 2 years) 
  • New Small Construction Community of the Year ​(Under 150 Units, built within past 2 years) 
  • Sustainable Living Innovation Award 
  • Renovated Community of the Year​
  • Affordable Community of the Year
  • Senior Community of the Year
  • Small Community of the Year (Under 150 Units
  • Large Community of the Year (150+ Units)​​

Rules

  • A property that has won a Community of Excellence Award within the past five years is not eligible to enter in the same category.  
  • A community may only be submitted in one category each cycle. 
  • NEW: A company may only submit one building per category.​​
  • Each submission must identify the appropriate age and size of the community.
  • The year should be selected based on the current status of the building – when it was built, or converted (for example, a mill building), or if there was a very significant renovation overhaul that makes it what it is now.   
  • Nominated communities must be in Massachusetts.  
  • The owner or management company must be a member of MAA in good standing, and the property must have been in the owner’s or manager’s portfolio for at least six months.
  • NEW: Owners or management companies NO LONGER need to submit financial information as part of the submission.
