Community of Excellence Awards

Categories

Rules

These Awards recognize excellence in a range of rental property styles, sizes and ages and celebrate the best in property management, based on service to residents, to the community, financial performance.

  • ​Large Community of the Year (150+ Units), New, 2014 – 2019 
  • Large Community of the Year (150+ Units), 2000 – 2014 
  • Large Community of the Year (150+ Units), Earlier than 1999 
  • Small Community of the Year (Under 150), New, 2014-2019,  
  • Small Community of the Year (Under 150), 2000 – 2014 
  • Small Community of the Year (Under 150), Earlier than 1999 
  • Affordable Community of the Year  
  • Student Community of the Year 
  • Senior Community of the Year
  • Green Living Award
  • ​Each submission must identify the appropriate age and size. The year should be selected based on when the current status of the building – when it was built, or converted (for example, a mill building), or if there was a very significant renovation overhaul that makes it what it is now.  ​
  • Nominated communities must be in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.  
  • The owner or manager must be a member of MAA in good standing for at least one year prior to the nomination, and the property must have been in the owner’s or manager’s portfolio for at least six months.  
  • A property which has won a Community of Excellence Award within the past five years is not eligible to enter.  
  • A community may only be submitted in one category. ​
